1/14/11 – After watching 11 episodes (and that was like last year ago), I decided to stop watching MSOAN. It’s not about the actors, it’s because of the story. It started out great but along the way, it went downhill for me.

I’m partially back!

I believe the term Merry Christmas will never be the same again.

After months of absence, I decided to make a comeback post. Now I know that Jang Geun Suk’s charm will never lose its effect on me :3

Truth is, I lost my passion for Asian dramas lately, but luckily I’m regaining it slowly. Let’s give a round of applause for Mary Stayed Out All Night (Mary, Marry Me).

Wi Mae Ri (Moon Geun Young) is the cheerful, pragmatic daughter of a failed businessman who had grown used to being constantly on the move to escape from debtors. She becomes fast friends with the free-spirited indie singer Kang Moo Kyul (Jang Geun Suk) when she nearly ran him over in a car. Meanwhile, her father Wi Dae Han is saved from his debtors by his old friend, Jung Suk, who had just returned from considerable success in the Japanese entertainment industry. Jung Suk, who had harboured a secret love for Mae Ri’s mother, sets up a deal with Dae Han to have Mae Ri marry his son, Jung In. In her desperate to escape this predicament, Mae Ri begs Moo Kyul to pose as her husband, and finds herself in even more trouble than before when her father proposes a 100-day period in which she has to divide her time equally between Moo Kyul and Jung In, after which she has to decide who to marry (source: dramawiki).

Moon Geun Young and Jang Geun Suk in one drama = pure epic. I’ve always been a fan of GS, but MGY? not really. I used to not like her, then came the time when I watched Innocent Steps and Cinderella’s Sister (which I have yet to finish) and poof, I became a fan 🙂

The thing with MGY is she’s a very versatile actress (same as JGS). I can’t believe how innocent she was in Endless Love 1 and I.S. but then we all saw her “evil” side in Cinderella’s Sister, and now she presents us with a fresh take on Mary’s character. She’s honestly too adorable for words.

Geun Suk. I know every man is envious of your looks but with your current look, you leave us girls no choice but to be envious/insecure of your beauty. At first I thought his long hair was a bit awkward, but after five episodes, I realized that it suited him well (also given his character).

Story-wise, I’m enjoying it so far. Enjoying = I can’t wait another day, what more a week to see what will happen next. Mary and Moo Kyul are just too adorable together (that basically gives away my ship for this drama). They complement each other, and every moment they have together is soo entertaining.

That does not mean that I’m not into Jung In’s character. I find him good for Mary too, in fact he’s the exact opposite of Moo Kyul, if you look into Mary and Jung In’s personality, you’ll learn that they are  a good match, and if you analyze it better, sometimes they have more chemistry than Mary and Moo Kyul. I’m sure in other dramas, it will always be the likes of Jung In and Mary that always end up together (whether you admit it or not), but it is MSOAL we are talking about here, and it is Kang Moo Kyul that we have here. There are just series that completely defies one’s hopes and expectations.

What I like about Mary and Moo Kyul is how they share the same background, as what my cousin pointed out, Mary fills up to what Moo Kyul lacks, and the same goes for Moo Kyul. What I’d like to see is Moo Kyul realizing his love for Mary, it isn’t that evident yet but there are signs. He can’t say no to her, how cute is that?

There are still plenty of episodes left but I can’t wait for the developments to happen. I can’t wait to see how Moo Kyul fares in the entertainment industry (I’m pretty sure he’ll be successful) plus there are still a lot of questions left unanswered (jajajajajaja, I guess it’s too early for that).
