About Me

Welcome to my blog 🙂

mirika. filipina. asian drama addict. bum. fangirl. bookworm. sportsfan

Hello. If ever you’re reading this, that means you’re curious 😉

The birth of GMSD

The birth of this blog, Give me some dramas dates back to 2008. I originally wrote my reviews on my multiply account, but then I have this dream of having a blog that tackles on my thoughts and reviews about Asian Dramas, and so this blog was born.

What is this blog about?

This blog is primarily about my reviews on Asian dramas, anime and books that I’ve seen (I have a separate blog for books now!). You may occasionally find rants and spazzes about actors, singers, etc.

Blog Content

Pertaining to Asian Dramas, I meant Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese. Really more of Japanese and Korean. I only provide reviews, but before, when I was still an enthusiastic being, I made episode summaries, but then laziness took control of me, and you know what happened next.

I’m also an anime fan, but not the otaku type. I watch anime when I feel like it, though sometimes I don’t make reviews of them (too lazy, haha).

You can also find book reviews. The thing is I love reading books, but I lack resources, haha. Just provide me a book and I’ll surely read it.

Fangirling. Yeah, if you’ll see some of my post, it’s mainly about fangirling. Fangirling about my favorite Groups, Bands and Actors (Asian for that one)

About the author

Mirika or Machi – you can call me that 🙂

I’ve been a fan of Asian Dramas since 2002 (or was it 2001?). It all started when the Meteor Garden craze swept the Philippines, and the rest is history (though I think, Gokusen was the one that got me really fired up for dramas).

I download dramas most of the time, and I prefer DL-ed dramas than streaming (heehee).

A fangirl. I’m one. I started liking JPOP then switched to KPOP, and now I think I’m on hiatus from liking anyone (seriously, it gets tiring at some point).

Bum. I’m a lazy person. I don’t move around much so the only thing I put my energy to (or on? lol) is watching and reading and sleeping.

I TALK A LOT. I mean I write a lot. HAHA. When I write reviews, I like to insert things that are sometimes not related to what I’m supposed to talk about. I type what comes to mind first and then I found myself writing a very long entry (most of my entries are long). HAHAHA.

Blog Activity

If I am not lost in the world of fiction, I try to watch anything that is worth watching. I’m not the type to watch all the new dramas that are airing, I’m more of the type that watches something that attracts my attention, even if it’s as old as me.

I know I haven’t watched that many dramas and I still have a lot to catch up to (hey, am I running for like the dramaqueen title here? lolz, just joking).

As for my mood, I noticed that there exist a “_____ season for me” There are times that all I wanna do is watch an anime, there are times when all I do is read, but then there are times when all I wanna do is to fangirl, you may just wanna take note of my mood.

I don’t post regularly, but rest assured, there’ll be something new for you to read around from time to time.

THERE YOU GO. Give me some dramas is a blog purely for entertainment. I have other blogs, more of my “personal blogs”. Feel free to visit if you have time 😉 Or you could add me (on fb, ym, twitter, etc.)

Lastly, please feel free to comment and/or ask.

  1. Hello~ Looks like we have a lot in common! 🙂 I’m 18 too, Filipina, and I own an LJ account as well XD I am a fangirl of almost anything Japanese (and some other Taiwanese stuff too) And when I saw an A1 pic in your blog I was like, O_O because I am a fan of them since 2000, I think? Will comment more on your blog later! 🙂

  2. wahaha. guess we have a lot in common. especially the A1 part. o.O

have also visited your blog. seems you like eita so much huh? lol

  3. Haha, yep, we do XD I mean, c’mon, Asian fandom AND A1?!?! Nice ^_^v

I LOVE EITA TO DEATH~! ♥ He’s a very good actor, but totally underrated and it’s sad D:

  4. Hehe, I’m probably more addicted than you are. Yes, I’m filipina too but live in the US for more than 14 years. I became a total asian entertainment addict when I started college (2002). It was anime first then it wasn’t until 3rd yr of college (2004) when I got so caught up on downloading dramas (maybe you don’t know but you can download all of these dramas online at http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/torrents.php instead of waiting for them to show up on TV. If you don’t mind the original Korean/Japanese/Taiwanese language instead of Filipino dubs (I’ve seen some dramas on TFC and they horribly did dubs for Kdramas). Then the next year my friend recommended a manga to me (Zettai Kareshi) and became total addict on that too.

Now that wasn’t a long road to fandom was it? Well because of my addiction, I created a site dedicated to Asian Media at http://goldlilys.110mb.com. I post up reviews of Animes, dramas and mangas I’ve watched/read. You can also download mangas and asian music all for free. You can even request for them at the forum if you are looking for something in particular.

K, I’ll end my ranting now. And I’ve enjoyed reading your blog so far. Keep up to wonderful work.

  5. Came across with your blog. I’m also Asian drama addict but mostly kdrama/kmovie and jdorama. Mind if I give any suggestion that you may want to watch:

9 End 2 Outs : The two leads are really lovable and great storyline about friendship and relationship.

On Air : This one is really good. You’ll get hook, try it.. I read that you like cute guys.. You’ll definitely love Park Yong Ha here.

For KMovie : If you still haven’t catch this, you may watch “Our Happy Time (Maundy Thursday).. Really a tearjerker. When I watched this I literally lose breath crying the last scene.

For JMovie : You can watch Koizora.. The male lead here is that guy from Gokusen 3, forgot his name.. The tv drama for this is currently playing in Japan.

You can add me via multiply. seproast.multiply.com

  6. whoa. pretty long comments there. 😀

goldlilys ~ I’ve checked your site and OMG, you’re surely more addicted than me, there are lots of stuff there, so much for being an asian drama addict right??

I’m also a frequent of d-addicts. Good thing that my connection is faster now, ‘coz months before I’m just on prepaid internet and you know how that things work, so I can’t DL shows and can’t even watch vids online, I buy them, and that cost a lot (of course I don’t buy the original, lol)

and about ZK, yeah that show’s so good. 😀

  7. sam ~ thanks for the recommendations. I’ve heard of 9 end 2 outs long before and have even considered buying a copy of it, it’s about baseball am I correct? But lately I’ve felt that I’m not in the mood for Kdramas, I think it’s because the episodes are rather long and draggy as compared to Jdramas, and I seldom watch Asian Series online, I DL them, so I can’t imagine how many days it would take me to complete a series (I’m not buying DVD’s anymore)

and about Koizora, yep, I’ve watched that, how I wish Haruma and Gakki would still be the lead in the drama, but oh well.

And about the korean movie that you’ve recommend, I’ll try it one of these days, it’s just that I’m so preoccupied with school stuff, I can’t even watch a series. I love the part where in you mentioned that I like cute guys, hahahah. :))

So yeah, my Asian Series days are currently on hold.

    (sorry if it’s rather long)

and I’ll add you up on multiply later. 🙂

  8. thanks for the add.. i also love downloading (on d-addict and veoh) and burning it to dvd. hirap lng coz im always running out of disk. cdrking is kilometers far here in my place so I have to go to alabang p to buy.. nwyz, goodluck to your studies.

  12. hey, you seem to have a ton of dedication to your dramas! haha, how do you manage you college work and your follow up on everything?

I like your reviews and they seem pretty detailed for a “lazy person” as you say.
    nice job.

  13. mindofryan~ hello there 😀

before, I was really into dramas, but somehow, this past few months, it started to decline (hence the few posts), I guess college life’s taking it’s toll on me 😐 Or rather, my attention is currently glued to football xD about the managing thing, I don’t prioritize my study that much (haha), I mean my course is more on the research/writing part, so it does not entail memorization, math, and the like :))

hahahaha. I’m a lazy person, promise! It’s just that when I become addicted to something, I try my hardest to let the world know (through blogging).

  14. mirika02~
yeah college tends to do that…what are you going for? it’s strange how once we get into college alot changes, and some stays the same.

  15. Hi,
umm… totallyclueless, you know that girl u have as your Gravatar, shes an actor from the movie i really like. I only have half of the dvd series[1 and 3] so I don’t know the rest of the story. could u maybe provide a summary for me about the movie?

Hey! Thank you for the follow back. I came across your blog because I am facing some serious The Master’s Sun withdrawal symptoms. Just finished the series yesterday and whoa, I can’t seem to return to ‘normality’ now. So, there I was just searching for anything Master’s Sun and found your amazing blog. Keep doing the good work. Looking forward to some drama recommendations from you. Hahaha, no pressure. 😛 🙂
Love the ‘About’ section and thanks to TMS I found an awesome blogger to whom I can relate my Drama-madness to. ❤
P.S – Don't go leery of my username, I am obsessed with Sherlock (BBC). 😉

    • Thank you for following too 🙂

      The Master’s Sun is jjang~

Honestly, I have “semi-retired” from drama blogging but I check the drama scenes sometimes especially if there are dramas that are generating positive reviews. What other dramas have you watched? I have not been much updated lately and I bet you have watched most of the dramas that I would recommend xD

And about your username, I first thought that it was some random dude but I do get where the obsession is coming from, I have watched Sherlock’s first season and I have friends that are also gaga over the series.

Ah, recently I’ve watched My Love from another star and The Moon that embraces the Sun also as I said Master’s sun. Last year I watched The Heirs (it was last year, right? O.O) so I am basically catching up with last year’s dramas. 😀
Yay, Sherlock fangirls for the win! ❤
I hope to read more from your blog. 🙂 ^_^
